THE NELSON FAMILY’S ULTIMATE FREE POWER DAY
Introducing our first Ultimate Free Power Day recipients - the Nelson family from Ōtara, Auckland.
Swanie and Terry Nelson bring the buzz to their community every Christmas with the Ōtara festive lights, they keep everyone nourished with Patāka Kai and they founded Bikeman rickshaws to help Aucklanders get around in a fun and eco-friendly way.
The Nelson family do so much for their community, so there's no one better to receive the first Ultimate Free Power Day. We transformed their entire home into an arcade for 24 hours, with projector screens over the windows, a custom VR room, a popcorn robot and more!
Terry loves arcade games so much he keeps a Space Invaders machine in the garage, so we lined the living room with arcade games and filled the master bedroom with pinball machines. Swanie, Arizona and Azaelea love singing and kapa haka, so we installed a light up dance floor and Karaoke machine for the family and their friends to dance the night away.
